Dr. Akın Kuyumcu

Dr. Akın Kuyumcu was born on December 7, 1952, in Aydın, Türkiye. After completing his primary and secondary education in Aydın, he entered Ege University Faculty of Dentistry in 1970 and graduated in 1975.

Academic Education and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Following graduation, he joined the Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ege University in the same year, where he began his academic and clinical career.

In 1980, he completed his doctoral dissertation entitled “Comparison of Surgical and Conservative Treatments in Habitual Luxation of the Temporomandibular Joint.” He continued his academic and clinical work at Ege University until 1983.

Practicing in Alsancak, Izmir Since 1983

In 1983, Dr. Akın Kuyumcu left the university and began private clinical practice in Alsancak, Izmir together with Dentist Tülin Kuyumcu.

At Dr. Kuyumcu Dental Clinic, his approach is based not only on addressing the immediate dental problem but also on evaluating oral health, function, surrounding tissues and long-term treatment needs as a whole.

Implantology Training

In 1988, together with Dentist Tülin Kuyumcu, he received implantology training at the Gothenburg clinic of Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark, one of the pioneers of modern dental implantology.

Since then, implantology, together with oral and maxillofacial surgery, has become an important part of his clinical practice.

Professional Practice and Memberships

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Akın Kuyumcu has continued working in different areas of surgical dentistry, particularly oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental implantology and temporomandibular joint disorders.

Science, Experience and Art

Beyond dentistry, classical music, piano, sailing, travel, literature and art have an important place in Dr. Akın Kuyumcu’s life.
